the one thing you don't know about my husband
...i know he "exposes" him on a regular basis here in the blogger world, but he has a secret passion and i know he won't brag about it--so i will!  please take a moment to go to http://www.popularhotrodding.com to see the four page article that recently appeared in this magazine about his 1969 camaro that he has spent so many hours rebuilding. the link to the article, "Back from the Edge", appears on the home page of this website. i'm so proud of you & hope i haven't made you feel too naked!

time out
...i am struggling to find time for myself lately and although i found a quick minute to change my blogskin let me whine for a minute...
  1. while typing the above sentence, i got up from my computer chair 5 times for my children
  2. i am envious that my husband has blogged over 10 times in june & july and this blog will be my 3rd!
  3. recently joe patton said to me (joking of course), "what do you do all day anyway, sit around and watch oprah?" - FYI:  SITTING only occurs in my day to change diapers, nurse 3 x's, eat meals (optional), playing games & reading books with my children!
  4. i really can't even finish an entire thought right now, just got ella out from under my computer desk for the 4th time during this blog-yes, she does have toys but they are not as exciting as exploring the wires that connect to the electrical outlets! i'll try again later!

the simple life
...i believe that God created us to be simple creatures. He created the garden of eden for adam and eve to enjoy~and now most of us only dream of a life that simple. i was thinking a lot about this as my family spent the last 4 days at my father-in-law's beach house in oceanside. i pondered as my children listen to the loud crash of the ocean waves, feel the sand fall through their tiny fingers, search for life under the sand (crabs), explore the vast ocean on grandpa's boat and be filled with laughter as the pelicans fight over the fish on the end of their line! these relaxing, slow paced vacations are the best memories that i have from my childhood (cheryl, although i'm sure i had fun playing with them, i don't remember the toys i had growing up!). one memory that stands out is our family trip to michigan~all i remember doing there is being able to run free in the green grass and pick fresh red raspberries off the bushes in my aunt's backyard. i want my children to have these kind of fond memories! i feel that our Father wants us to play more, explore regularly, nap daily and truly experience this wonderful kingdom on earth He gave to us~it is ours, we just have to reach out and pick some berries!

a blogger warning: we should all be cautious not to judge a person by the written word in their blog as words can be misunderstood by the reader--get to know the person, their heart, their passions, etc. for example: tommy~ my husband might have a TP record in his past but he would NEVER make crank phone calls!
