a picture worth 1,000 words
...last night a picture fell out of the book that was on my night stand. i starred at the picture for some time and then called andy to come and look at it also. i love photography for so many reasons. the pictures we have are a frozen moments in time that we may never be able to go back to but they create memories. this picture was taken just 9 1/2 short months ago of our kids in disneyland. although if you looked at the picture, you would not see disneyland. the picture is a close up of their precious smiling faces with their arms wrapped tightly around each other. we were caught silent as we looked at this picture, knowing how little time has past, and yet we could see so much growth in each of our children. i was also struck by the pure joy on their faces (the smile wasn't just "cheesy" for mom to take a picture) and reminded of how much fun we had playing as a family. so, putting aside all things on our to do list, we leave on sunday for a last minute trip to play in disneyland--they are just growing up too fast! i hope to capture many more moments in time!

thirteen things about my week

1....we signed papers to close escrow on my husband's first house as a builder. in 6 months of work he was able to profit more than twice the income he has ever made in 12 months time! this has been a good move for our family!
2....after leaving the title agency, i was pulled over for speeding and received my first moving violation, otherwise known as a TICKET!
3....after receiving a ticket from mr police officer, i had a revelation about trusting God...another blog entry altogether.
4....my four year old, damon, is learning to read and rode his bike without training wheels! growing up is very hard, for mom!
5....my potty trained 2 1/2 year old started climbing on the potty and insisting on independence regarding this issue---with NO objection from mommy!
6....it snowed heavily the entire first day of SPRING!!
7....my parent's celebrated their 38 th year of marriage--i am so thankful for their love for each other.
8....on our date this week we went to dinner and saw V for Vendetta. we both really enjoyed this movie!
9....for st patrick's day we had a real irish meal, complete with corned beef, cabbage, 3 leaf clover shaped bread sticks (which my kids turned green with sprinkles), green juice and beer. for dessert we made apple barley pudding from scratch! we will never again be having this menu. although enjoyable, it was very rich!!
10...we are planning our next family vacation to disneyland and sea world for april or may!
11...i am still in the appeal process to get my health insurance to pay for my breast reduction surgery. i did get them to audit our family deductible and they found that they calculated wrong. always question the insurance company-they may make you feel as if you've lost your mind but in the end it can be worth it!
12...during my workout, i rode the stationery bike at our gym (it was snowing and i was forced indoors!) next to a lady who was cheering while watching a game show, Deal or No Deal. my family and i watch little to no tv in any given week, but if i did--this would not be how i spent my tv watching time.
13...i spent 2 hours having my hair done today and i love it!

snow flakes
...the snow has been falling a lot around here, somedays it snows all day and night. the sky glows so beauitful. at times, i find myself up late just watching each snow flake fall gently to it's final landing place. i catch myself lingering in the snow without my hat or gloves just to feel the soft, cold flakes on my face and catch them in my hands. when the storm has subsided i feel like a child again, playing in the mounds of white that covers the ground.

thirteen things about tera

1.... i love to cook (and so do my children) and entertain!
2....my husband and i have shared 1 vehicle for the last 5 years. we are going to purchase a work truck this month. i'm really not sure how we did it all this time?? .
3....my favorite childhood memories are from time spent with my family at my grand parents' cabin in flagstaff, AZ.
4....i have naturally curly hair that unfortunately is starting to turn GRAY!!
5....i home school my three kids and teaching them to love reading is the best part!
6....i prefer to be outdoors and enjoy bike riding whenever i get the chance.
7....i have had six surgeries in my 32 years on this earth and although the last one (2005) was by choice, it was the worst for me. i often beg God to spare me from any more surgeries.
8....i am a very organized person but i still have a few unpacked boxes hidden under my desk that need to be filed (WE MOVED 11 MONTHS AGO!).
9....i want to travel to other countries. i have only been out of the US to go to Mexico.
10...i have a passion for great photos and want to take photography classes.
11...when i was on bed rest while pregnant with my first child, my mom taught me how to crochet. i made a beautiful blanket for my friend, kathy jo, and haven't made the time to do it again. my mom recently gave me all of her crochet needles and some yarn so i guess i don't have as many excuses not to do it again.
12...i did not have acne as a teenager and ironically, now that i'm 32 i can't seem to get rid of it!
13...i have been happily married to my high school sweetheart for over ten years! the key word is happy, because not every one can say that after ten years and three kids!

colorectal cancer awareness month
...please ask all of your friends and family, age 50 or over, if they have had a colonoscopy. today.

"Despite its high incidence, colorectal cancer is one of the most detectable and, if found early enough, most treatable forms of cancer. Over 90% of those diagnosed while the cancer is still localized survive more than five years. Currently, however, only 37% of colorectal cancers are detected while still localized.
It's Treatable. Get Screened."

thoughts overflowing
...i am having a hard time writing as of late. my mind is full of thoughts; life and death, pain and sickness, joy and sadness, new and old friends, plans i want to make, things i need to write about, and the new found freedom in my Father that i want to share with everyone. now that i have "spilled my thoughts", i am hoping i can start writing more honestly about myself and my journey in this life.

"We’ll never really be free until we learn how to feed from Jesus ourselves (John 6) and not think we’re dependent on anyone else." - Wayne Jacobsen

update:my mom's recent scan showed that the chemotherapy is having some good effects on the cancer throughout her body. the doctor recommended NO surgery on her colon at this time. my family has been praying for Father to touch and heal her body and we give thanks to Him for this great news!
